Plan for Park Development in Charlotte, NC Unveils
The SouthPark Community Partners have unveiled its $21
million plan to significantly upgrade the Symphony Park. I know that more and
more people will be coming to see the park. The said development is currently
aiming to transform the park into a vibrant public space that will come with
new restaurants, retail areas, a re-terraced lawn for events, children's play
areas, public art, and improved connectivity through new bridges and trails.
The funding model involves a public-private partnership such as the Simon
Property Group, which owns the park, and SouthPark Mall, which will contribute
$13 million for the construction of the new restaurants. Then, the SouthPark
Community Partners is also launching a $5 million capital campaign and request
the City to provide the remaining $8 million. This is a collaborative approach
to create a dynamic community asset and enhance the quality of life and
attractiveness of the South Park neighborhood.
